| For Sale: Meccano Outfit No. 10 boxed set - key lock mechanism working - original key. External wear and scratches to the wooden box, internal wood appears good for its age and the two internal wooden trays. Some cog and spindle pieces have suffered corrosion however some pieces have not been used and are in good condition, none of the pieces have been repainted. Most of the nuts and bolts have remained unused in their original boxes and some tyres are still in cellophane wrapping. There are some original Meccano instructions for sets 0-7 but they do not appear to be related to the Meccano 10 outfit. The set has been in the family since its original purchase and is probably not complete and not in 'brand new' condition, but who would be for its age?! This lovely antique is a piece of history that is at risk of being hoarded and forgotten about. I am sure someone else would appreciate and enjoy this legendary item far more. It is not a motley collection of parts from different periods with many missing items such as is often to be found for sale. All the parts are original Binns Road Meccano. Now the bad news, there is no cabinet and there are no manuals. It has been badly stored and whilst the brass parts gears etc. are fine the painted parts will really need to be repainted. The set is contained in a large non-meccano wooden chest. | For Sale: This was left to me by an old friend. It is a Meccano No 5 still in the original box. The box measures 17 inches long by 12.1/4 inches wide by 3.1/4 inches deep. Gold letters on the lid are a bit faded. Gold letters in the lid good condition. Top section has a tray full of Meccano 6 sections. Under the tray there are sections also full of Meccano. Not sure if they are original pieces to box, a mixture of blue and gold, red and yellow, greens, chrome, black, coloured. nut, bolts, cogs, wheels. Set.
I have been told the engine which came with this set is a lionel engine. It comes with the letter to the recipient of this Christmas gift. Master August Voultz Jr. dated Dec 22 1915. The first book is copyright 1913 by Meccano Ltd. It is 100 pages instructions for the whole series of Models 1-109. The second book is a selection of the models which were awarded prizes in the meccano competition 1914-1915. On pg 24, under the price list, the 1X with electric motor sells for $3. Its motor and the 1X are featured on two pages. Also there are pictures of all the winning models and the name and where they come from. Including two electric motors, one 12V the other 20V, two clockwork motors, one with reversing gear, and approximately 30 gears.
