Barrel Piano by Canon A.O. Wintle of Lawshall Suffolk and bearing his Logo on the lid. Hand cranked, converted from a coin slot operation by Canon Wintle. His housekeeper confirmed this when she came to play it!

For Sale: John Smith design 26-note organ, This was partly made by a retired carpenter who also enjoyed model engineering hence the brass parts in place of the wooden ones in the design. It has all the ranks present: two stopped flutes one open flute and one octave open flutes. Plays quite nicely but really needs a bit of TLC to make it sparkle. Case has a marquetry panel. This is a complete Castlewood Organ Kit. I bought it two years ago, but due to other commitments I do not have the time to assemble it. Still in original box with all packaging. This is a complete kit with all the parts: pre cut wooden parts, gears, air pipes, bellow coverings, instruction book etc, to make a 20 note busker organ that plays John Smith rolls. I also have some glues, shellac etc that are needed to assemble the organ, and will include these in the sale. I paid just over£1000 (including import taxes etc). This organ is the first organ that John Smith built No 1 1990. It was rebuilt by him using the original on show pipes and decoration. Photo shows the pipes removed and conductor, but now incorporates a powerful sound amplification to play cassete tapes or CDs and can be powered by battery new battery needed. To complete the illusion there is a card reader fitted at the rear complete with some genuine card board music. The side case he made for this organ has a working puppet of Pinnochio in a 3D modelled workshop. just pull his chain to make it move, This is a very eye catching item which will attract people to any market or charity stall or can be put on a carousel. Two hand-operated registers, violin and bourdon.
The organ was overhauled and repainted winter 2007/8.
Needs a minor servicing/tuning, but still gives a reasonable account of itself, and the top piece which covers the roll tracker is missing due to car accident damage, rest of case is OK.
There are 63 rolls of music, 30 of them new since 2007. Over nine hours playing time in total.
It has the original cart, but has seen better days.

The organ is currently fitted inside an ex BT Sherpa Van first registered in 1984, which spent 15 years of its life in a BT museum. For Sale: 65k Ruth organ converted from barrel operation in the 1920s. Arthur Prinsen did some restoration work in the 1960s and this is where the majority of the music comes from. There are over 100 books with the organ. It came to the UK in the 1970s, was fitted with a new front, & placed in a display vehicle where it still resides. In the late 1980s it was restored by Andrew Whitehead who added the glockenspiel. The organ plays well, and the whole unit is ready to rally. For Sale: The "Puffin", a replica book-playing Dutch street organ using the 52-key Limonaire system, which can be hand-turned or mechanically driven on mains or 110v DC. 5 registers (trombone, bourdon, violins, violin, celeste, tremulant), bass and snare drums, based on the Hooghuys pattern keyframe. This self-built organ is a replica in sound quality and air supply of it's traditional ancestors built 100 years ago. Traditionally it is difficult to achieve contra-rotating twists using belts and pulleys, hence few organs incorporated them. The Puffin uniquely overcame this problem by using a pneumatic engine coupled to the twists with gear boxes. This is a unique craftsman-made instrument mounted in a new weatherproof trailer. 95 books of music provide six hours of music, including traditional, waltzes, jazz, modern and light entertainment.
